Tennis
Lobster Claw
On Friday my class went to tennis with Kolie. We played lots of games but my favorite was Lobster Claw. You have to throw the ball and the other person catches it and you swap around. It was hard at first but then I got better at it. My partner was Evie. Luke
If you want to play you need two tennis rackets and a tennis ball. When you have got everything you can play. Grab a buddy and your buddy throws the ball. And you need to catch the ball with your rackets. This is the way to play Lobster Claw. Evie
Tennis Hamburger Game
You get a group of people with tennis rackets and tennis balls then stack them up. You have a ball in between each two rackets then walk with it and see if you cannot make it fall over. Cael
On Friday we played Tennis with Kolie. We played a game that we tried to get the ball on the other person’s racket. They tried to get the ball on my racket. Katie
My favourite game was Around The World where you have to get one tennis ball and put it on your tennis racket and move it round and try to keep it on the racket. It is quite hard when I try it because it always falls off but I keep trying. I got it.
Alani
Double Catch
Kolie coached the tennis and there is a game I call Double Catch because you throw a ball and also at the same time catch another ball. It can be very hard. Each time you both catch the ball without dropping it you get a point. Isaac
Caterpillar Tennis Game
Every Friday my class did some tennis with Kolie. My favourite game that we played was the Caterpillar. How you play is that you have a team and a person rolls the tennis ball and it has to go through everybody's legs. If it does go through all of the team's legs you get one point. If it doesn't then you don't get a point. You have eight people in your team. Sometimes the ball goes left and sometimes it goes right. If some people in your team are not focusing and they miss the ball sometimes you get really angry. Sometimes the ball bangs on someone's feet and the ball changes ways. That's what makes it so hard. Maisie
When it was our classes' turn for tennis we played Caterpillar. First we were split into two teams. Next each team put their hands on the person that was in front's shoulders. After that Kolie our tennis coach rolled a ball through our spread out legs. We had to move together as a team to get the ball through. It's a little hard to play but it's also lots of fun! Ruby
Bounce And Catch
Each Friday we learn a new drill. Last week we did a drill called Bounce and Catch. You have to bounce the ball on the racket and catch the ball. Carter
Kolie told us racket back, step and swing to hit the ball better. Hamish
We did rallys. You do rallys with two to four people. Everyone needs a racket but just one tennis ball. You have one person on each side of the net. You try to hit the ball over the net and you have to try to hit the ball back. And just keep on doing it until someone hits the ball at the net. We are trying to do more than three hits over the net. Brook Sanctuary
Berries are on some native trees. They're red to attract the birds so that the birds eat the berries then fly off. After that the bird poops it out and it grows a new plant so it's a circle: plant grows berries, bird eats the berries, bird flies off, poops berries out, grows a new plant. Nicholas
I learnt that stoats and possums are bad. Possums are bad because they climb up trees and eat the native bird's eggs then more native birds are gone and native birds are beautiful. If possums are killed there will be more native birds. Flynn and Cael
I learnt that there are two different traps. One is for rats. The rats go in the rat trap and try to eat the peanut butter. The other trap is for stoats, weasels and possums. They use eggs as bait for the stoats, weasels and possums to trap them in a trap. Sarah
I learnt the difference between the stoat and the weasel. The stoat has a black tip on its’ tail and the weasel doesn't. Agnes
Rick walks up high hills to find the traps and to check for mice, stoats, rats and possums because they are pests and they eat the birds and their eggs. Alani and Carter
From our school trip we donated enough money for one fence post to keep the pests away. Some of the pests would be cats. Holly

Having Fun In The Playground
Playground Statements
I am going to tell you what our playground statements are.
For communication our statement is listen and talk appropriately. You will need this statement when you are discussing what you are going to play because you want to play something with other people.
Our problem solving statement is negotiate because you might need to agree on the game you are going to play.
Our safety statement is look where you're going because you might be running round the corner and smack into a person.
Our movement statement is keep your hands and feet to yourself so you don't have to sit on the deck.
Our treatment statement is treat people the way you want to be treated. If a person pushes you you don't push them if you don't want to be pushed.
Now go out on the playground and use those statements.

Playground Statements
This explanation will help you with your playground safety.
Listen and talk appropriately when someone is explaining a game.
You negotiate when people are annoying.
Watch where you’re going on the playground.
Keep hands and feet to your self.
Treat people the way you want to be treated and they will treat
you that way.
That’s the playground statement.

Playground Statements
This explanation is about playground statements.
Our class’s communication statement is about listening and talking. You have to listen to each other because there might be something really important you need to know.
Now it's about problem solving. You need to negotiate. Negotiate means talk together and if you have a problem share each other's side. It's a tiny bit like a see saw. One person's up and one person's down. And then it changes around and shares each other’s sides. That's the only way you can work it out.
Safety. Your playground safety is you need to look where you're going in case someone comes running around the corner and you have a big crash and get hurt. That is not very good.
This is our movement statement for the playground.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself unless you use them nicely. So what we are saying is don't use your hands to hit or punch. And do not use your feet to kick balls at people unless you are playing a game that includes you kicking a ball to your team mate but you have to kick it nicely.
Last of all but most needed one the treatment statement.
Treat other people as you would like to be treated. So if you were telling someone to be in for tag then why don't you be in because you are being bossy but if you want to get bossed around then you be bossy. If you're bullying someone they will bully you back so that's why you have to treat other people as you would like to be treated.
That is all of the playground statements you need to know. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Treat other people as you would like to be treated. Listening and talking. Negotiate. And look where you're going. That is quite a lot of safety statements.
