Scooter training

On Wednesday we went to the junior court. Some visitors were there because they were going to teach us how to be safe on scooters.
Some of the rules are
1.always wear a helmet.
2.stop at the road even if you can't hear anything.
3.always keep one foot at the front of the scooter and the other at the back.
By Harrison
At our scooter training we learnt  how to change feet. There were three ways of doing it. There was the hop way and the walk way and the two feet on the scooter way. We also learnt that when we turn left your left foot is on the ground and when we turn right your right foot is on the ground. Then we went for a scoot around the school to learn a bit of road safety on our scooter.

If you are scootering a long way you can swap feet by putting one of your feet off and the other one on the scooter. We also learnt to put one foot on the front of the scooter. We learnt that when you cross a road or a crossing you have to walk your scooter across. Another thing we learnt is to watch for sneaky driveways because a quiet car might be coming. They also taught us to watch out for big cracks. It was fun.

Caritas Learning

Yesterday some people from Solomon Islands came to see our school and told us about the Solomon Islands. First they showed us a map of the Solomon Islands. They showed us the main island of the Solomon Islands and then they showed us some special necklaces.
They gave us some coconut.
By Gabriel R.

On Wednesday some people from the Solomon islands came in and taught us
about the Solomon islands. I was really interested in the map they had. It was pink and it had all little islands surrounding this big island. One of the islands was called Santa Cruz.

I was fascinated in the jewellery  they had. There was a necklace made out of shells. It was very light. The lady was also holding a bag that was made out of tree bark. They also have some very beautiful flowers that were quite rare. The lady had a pink flower in her hair. She said the heat was very hot.
And the children at school only have one book and one pencil. Some children have to walk two hours to get to their school. Also kids at kindergarten wear a uniform and they also only have about one table or two. Some kids don't
even go to school because it's too far away  from their home because some
people in the village don't have boats so they have to walk.
Also their main foods  are coconuts and taro and fish.

Fact or Fib

This term we were working on fact or fib sheets. We wrote true or false sentences and drawings. You had to make three true and one false. People had to guess which one was not true. The people who knew which was the false one would win the game. The people who didn't would have another go. It is so much fun to play!

In Fact or Fib there is one fib and three real things. It takes a long time to do it. Fact or Fib is lots of fun to do and play. Mine looks very cool. I have finished mine.

Explaining P.E.

My class room have being practicing with Mrs McQuillan and Mrs Bryant catching basket balls with the rebounders. We did Around the World as well. It got easier and easier each time because you get the hang of it. I liked practicing Around the World because we get to throw the ball on each rebounder and mostly to the one we're used to.

We also played Hills and Hollows. First just get some cones that are even numbers and set them out separately on two sides- one on hills and one on hollows. After that make two even teams and line them on the yellow line facing far away from each other. Then name one team hills and the other hollows. Now say go then both teams run and the hills flip the hollows around and the hollows turn the hills around. When the time has run out the teams have to race back to the yellow line again and they can't flip any more over or other wise the other team will win the game.

Every Friday my class and I go out for P. E.  We learnt how to catch. We played Catch Ball and Round the world and Hills and Hollows. They are fun. My favourite is Round the world. You play it like this. You line up in two lines on each side of the rebounder then you throw the ball then run and the other person catches it and you keep on doing it. It's fun.

Swimming Sports Placings

On Thursday the whole school went to swimming sports. I was in three races. I came first in backstroke, second in freestyle and second in breaststroke and I was racing
against some really good swimmers. I was nervous because I thought I was going to come last but I was OK cause I got a placing. It was lots of fun.

A few days later I went to Inter schools. I came 3rd, 3 rd and fourth.

In swimming sports for the school the Year Fours and up got ribbons. And the Year Threes and under got certificates. I think I won because I concentrated really well. That's why I won. The pool was really cold.
