Flotsam

Before we shared a wonderful wordless book by David Wiesner that begins with the picture above we wrote our own stories that follow from the picture. Our stories all begin with:
“Hey, look what I’ve found,” I shouted to anyone who could hear me. “I wonder what it is?” I thought.

“Hey, I think I know what it is. It’s a crunchy big fish bone and very slimy,” said Peter. “Look at that, it’s a paua shell,” said Peter. “It’s very shiny!”
“I can see a seal,” I said.
“It’s staring at us,” said Peter.
“It’s after us,” I said.
“Run” Peter said.
“I think we’ve lost him,” I said.

One or two people came in to look at what I had found. It was a starfish. All of a sudden the starfish jumped up and started to run away. She ran to the little ice-cream shop then seven more starfish came running after it. When they entered the shopkeeper screamed and ran out of the shop.

There was a sparkling object, seaweed, cans and a kettle then I found some pancake rocks with a pebble on them. It is just like that legend about if you touched the pebble you would turn into something. Then I found a pearl then mum and dad called “It is time to go now”. What a good day.

It might be a crab but it doesn’t have sharp claws and it looks bigger and as red as a stop sign. Let’s take it home but how would we put it in the bucket. Let’s just let it go. That’s a good idea. It’s time to go home.

It might be a line shark skeleton that fought with a whale shark. It must have been a very dangerous battle. When it was washed up it was very scary and terrifying. As he walked across the beach he saw some interesting things. There were bones everywhere and he also found a swordfish’s mouth and all sorts of things.

Zumba Fun

Our Zumba session on Friday was a lot of fun and it certainly warmed us all up.

Jack Flash Play

Yesterday there was a play called Jack Flash and the Giant Beanstalk. My favourite part was when Jack Flash was climbing the beanstalk. There was a flappy goose that was funny too. The unusual part was when the bag fell. There was a big bad giant. He said “Fe fi fo fum, I hear someone,” and the goose said “Oh no! Jack! Hide behind me!”
“OK!” said Jack.
“Oh and act like a big egg!”
“OK.” The giant thought he was a giant but he was just a man.

On Thursday I went to watch Jack Flash and the Beanstalk and the characters were very very funny and their play was amazing. The funniest part was when the bean had to step into the stinky cow poo. When the Mexican jumping bean grew the beanstalk grew. It looked amazing the way they made it. It looked kind of real. I liked the way they made the big red plum. I think it is made out of sponge. The king mouse said to Jack “I want you to go to the clouds and to tell the giant to stop throwing rubbish on people. It is not very nice.”  The giant said he thought he was a giant but he wasn’t a giant.

Yesterday I went to a show. It was about a giant throwing his rubbish on people and the funniest bit was when the girl was standing in the cow poop. Then Jack Flash had to find out who was throwing all the rubbish and he found it was a man who thought he was a giant. An intruder came. The goose protected the man.
“What is behind you?” said the giant. The other man smelt him.
At the end we asked questions.
