Word Chains

First we read a book about Ironkid. Step two You need to write words that represent the character. Step three You need to publish on an IPad the words that represent the character. Step four You need to get some thick coloured paper and little strips of paper. Step five You need to make the thick pieces of paper into circles and thread the little strips of paper through the thick pieces. After you have made the chain you glue the words on.

Last week we made word chains. First we read a book about Ironkid. Then we did a sheet about it. After that we started to type some words that we wrote down about the main character who was Zac. Then we made these chains out of paper. I love making word chains!

How to make a word chain
First you read a book. We read Ironkid. Step 2 Then you write words that represent the main character. Step 3 You print the words off and while you are waiting you make the word chain for the words. You get some big paper and some little strips then you staple them but count how many words you have and do that many circles. Step 4 You glue the words on the word chain. Once you have glued your words on you have finished.

Making word chains is fun. I liked doing it because you get to make it colourful. You put words on it. This is an example of the words: friendly funny and clumsy describe Miss Bell, Kylie and Zoe.

Scooter training

On Wednesday we went to the junior court. Some visitors were there because they were going to teach us how to be safe on scooters.
Some of the rules are
1.always wear a helmet.
2.stop at the road even if you can't hear anything.
3.always keep one foot at the front of the scooter and the other at the back.

At our scooter training we learnt  how to change feet. There were three ways of doing it. There was the hop way and the walk way and the two feet on the scooter way. We also learnt that when we turn left your left foot is on the ground and when we turn right your right foot is on the ground. Then we went for a scoot around the school to learn a bit of road safety on our scooter.

If you are scootering a long way you can swap feet by putting one of your feet off and the other one on the scooter. We also learnt to put one foot on the front of the scooter. We learnt that when you cross a road or a crossing you have to walk your scooter across. Another thing we learnt is to watch for sneaky driveways because a quiet car might be coming. They also taught us to watch out for big cracks. It was fun.

Yesterday some people from Solomon Islands came to see our school and told us about the Solomon Islands. First they showed us a map of the Solomon Islands. They showed us the main island of the Solomon Islands and then they showed us some special necklaces.
They gave us some coconut.

On Wednesday some people from the Solomon islands came in and taught us
about the Solomon islands. I was really interested in the map they had. It was pink and it had all little islands surrounding this big island. One of the islands was called Santa Cruz.

I was fascinated in the jewellery  they had. There was a necklace made out of shells. It was very light. The lady was also holding a bag that was made out of tree bark. They also have some very beautiful flowers that were quite rare. The lady had a pink flower in her hair. She said the heat was very hot.
And the children at school only have one book and one pencil. Some children have to walk two hours to get to their school. Also kids at kindergarten wear a uniform and they also only have about one table or two. Some kids don't
even go to school because it's too far away  from their home because some
people in the village don't have boats so they have to walk.
Also their main foods  are coconuts and taro and fish.
